Things that I believe to be true:

by
  • God in the form of loving spirit and creative energy surrounds and works through me and all of life and nature
  • One has to be fully in the present to be fully aware of this spirit essence, listening for its still small voice. It is when we are not in tune (fully aware) that we step out of the path of light into shadow and do things that hurt ourselves and others.  Not only that, we miss opportunities to correct mistakes of thought, action, and belief, or fail to recognize gifts of human intervention (words, actions or presence) in times of need.  There are countless serendipities and synchronicities every day…
  • To go toward the “light” (i.e., make kind, loving, good decisions and actions, to do the next right thing) is to do what’s right.  
  • Praying for material wealth or a change of circumstance will only lead to disillusionment and/or confirmation of disbelief.  When praying for strength, inspiration, guidance, and understanding, answers and means of coping always come…
  • Our spirits are present before we enter into our bodies at birth and continue after leaving our bodies when we die.  I have seen evidence of this on both ends of life, through introduction to Henry’s spirit before birth, observation of dad’s passing, mom’s nudge to sobriety
  • We are on this planet to learn certain lessons, and if we don’t learn them in this lifetime, we will have to do it in the next…it was this certain knowledge, the knowledge that we have no way of knowing when this life will end, and my mother’s afterlife encouragement that led me to sobriety
  • Destiny (“God’s Plan”?) through personal choice: we arrive where we are meant to be regardless of chosen path to get there: 
  • God is too big for just one religion: I think that many religions are various interpretations of the same thing (e.g., God’s will, love and care of earth and humanity)
  • Jesus is a savior to many but if he is my personal savior, it has not become obvious that that is how I am connected with God, and I cannot believe my lack of “confession” to that effect diminishes my life and service… 10-17-2008
